Sweet Baby Davis

Sometimes it's so easy to blog about what Drew is doing because he is so much more active than you are. But I wanted a blog about you. You are such an amazingly sweet baby. You started life out a little harder than Drew because you were so sick early on, but I think you've finally got this healthy thing figured out. After a hospital visit, countless doctor visits, a trip to Childrens for some tests, and 2 ear infections, I think we are finally out on the other side. You've really started to become more and more alert since you started daycare and are getting a little older. You have the brightest blue eyes and look more and more like your big brother to me every day. You are starting to really smile at us...so much that now when you give one of your BIG grins we can see your top gums. I LOVE the no teeth smiles. And you are cooing and talking to us all the time. You get the biggest kick out of everything Drew does. You've also started really crying and getting upset when Drew is crying. Your bottom lip turns into a frown and starts to quiver and then you start screaming as loudly as he is. Sadly this happens a lot lately because big brother has been pushing his boundries and ending up in timeout at least once a day. Daddy and I decided last night that this is just the beginning of you guys teaming up against us! I love that you love each other so much. It really warms my heart to see how you treat each other. You weighed 13 pounds when we took you to the doctor this week, so you are a big strong healthy boy. I love you so much Davis and we are so proud to be your mommy, daddy, and big brother. You have truly made our family complete and I LOOOVVVE being the mommy of two boys!

Drew's first fishing pole

Since we started FPU, we have learned that in order to change our family tree we have to teach the boys how to handle and manage and respect money. So we started teaching Drew the relationship between work and money...you work you get paid, you don't work, you don't get paid. So he has a work chart on the refridgerator with 4 jobs that he needs to do every day in order to receive money. He has to clean up his mess, put away dirty clothes, help load the dishwasher, and listen to Mommy and Daddy...staying out of timeout. He gets a sticker for each job he does and then gets a dime for each sticker. On Sunday mornings, we count the dimes and convert them into dollars. He gives 10% to the church and 10% to his piggy bank and gets to keep the rest to spend. He has currently been saving for a Lightning McQueen fishing pole he saw at Wal-Mart. So on March 17, 2010 he made his first cash purchase for his fishing pole. And I had to have pictures of the wonderful event. He was so proud counting out each dollar bill from his wallet to the checkout girl. Looks like she got a big kick out of it too! He has decided his next purchase is going to be a real basketball!

We're Debt Free!

On March 16, 2010, Brian and I sent off our final payment on my car making us finished with Baby Step #2...Debt Free except the house! I really didn't expect it to feel as amazing as it does. We paid off $20,000 in 6 months and didn't really make that many changes. We learned from Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University that we needed to set up a written budget, set some short and long term goals, and get on the same page financially. And thanks to that class, we've done it! I couldn't be prouder of us. We are teaching Drew how to work and earn money and hopefully changing our family tree long term. So now it's on to Baby Step #3...3-6 months of living expenses in an emergency fun. Here we go!

Ice Cream Social

We went to an ice cream social at Mamaw and Papaw's retirement village yesterday and you guys were a big hit! Everyone thought y'all were adorable...they were right! Drew loved the ice cream and ate every bite of his "bannilla" ice cream. We also had a lot of fun visiting with them. Drew loves to watch Papaw play guitar.

Big Brother's monkey

Davis has really taken a liking to Drew's monkey and blankie. Sometimes when he can't calm down enough to sleep, we give him Drew's monkey or blankie and he almost always puts it up to his face and falls right to sleep. Yet another sign of how much he ADORES his big brother!

Tornado Warnings

Last week we had some tornados come through town and we had a tornado warning, so while Daddy was at work we had to go into the garage and take cover. We were supposed to go to Chuck E. Cheese for Brooklyn's birthday party, so Drew was very upset we didn't get to go play. But at least we didn't have any damage or anything. I don't think they touched down anywhere around us. But I did get a picture of the boys huddled up in our "shelter." Luckily, as you can see, they weren't very scared.

Happy St. Patrick's Day 2010

Well, today is St. Patrick's Day, so the boys had to wear green and we of course had to take their picture. Drew's favorite color is green, so he's in heaven today! Love these two faces!

Olivia, Charlie, and Mindy visit!

We had so much fun when Mindy, Olivia, and Charlie came and spent the night with us last week. Drew and Olivia had a big time running all around, reading stories, and just being silly little ones. Charlie is really starting to get big...crawling around trying to keep up with the big kids. And Davis just had fun watching all the craziness. We love you guys and really wish we all lived closer together!

Aunt Hannah

Aunt Hannah came to visit us on Sunday and spent the night. Since she was staying for work it was just her and y'all had so much fun playing. She's very fun and silly and loves to play, so she's right up your alley. She's having another baby in September so we are so excited to add to our pack of kiddos!

Drew's playdate at the park

We've all been dying to have a playdate with your friends from school and this past Saturday was a perfect opportunity. There are a lot of you and since you're all 3 we hate to make one mom clean up after that. So we were actually able to meet your friends and some siblings at the park. Hopefully I can remember everyone that was there: Drew, Maggie, Whitman, Noah, Catie, Harlee, Helen, Aiden, and Davis. We had a great time. Y'all are big enough to play by yourselves except needing an occasional push on the swing, so us mommies got to visit. And some daddies were there too. We played for about 2.5 hours and then went home for lunches and naps. I think you probably all crashed shortly after that! It was so fun and we'll definitely have to do it again soon. We just love all your classmates and their parents. We've really been lucky to make all these new friends! You guys have all been together since the nursery...3 years already!

Daddy's new truck

Daddy got a new, big-boy truck. Since Davis was born, there wasn't enough room for both boys and since he likes to pick y'all up he needed something new. We didn't want to have a car payment...getting debt-free thanks to Dave Ramsey! So we were lucky when his friend from work said he would sell him his truck. He's a very good friend of Daddy's and we knew he always takes good care of his cars so it was a great deal. Daddy was able to sell his truck and with some tax money, we got this beautiful truck for CASH! Go us. We love it and actually spend more time in it than my car right now!

2 months old

Davis just turned 2 months old. Well, it's been about a week, but I'm behind on posting. He's gotten so big! He is really alert now and loves to "talk" and smile. He loves his big brother and it's so obvious in the way he looks at him. I love it! Davis, you are eating about 5 ounces now, but you still have to eat every two hours during the day. I don't know why you can't really stretch that out, but we're working on it. You go to sleep around 7pm every night which is very early for our family, so we're hoping you can start staying up later soon. We won't have much play time when I go back to work. You usually get up between 2-3am and then again around 5-6am so that's pretty good. You started going to daycare at 8 weeks and have been absolutely loving it! You are so wide-eyed every time we pick you up and you really seem to like watching all the bigger babies toddle around. You have some very sweet teachers. You started out with Ms. Jamie, Ms. Lisa, Ms. Wanda, and Ms. Ashley, but since Ms. Keisa left and Ms. Jamie took her spot, you know have Ms. Alicia. We are very lucky to have such great people in yours and Drew's lives. They all love to snuggle with you because you are the youngest in the class. I haven't gone back to work yet, but sending you to school has given me the time to get some serious organization done at home. I love you Davis and we are so happy that you are here to love and play with us!

Lazy Sundays

We like to spend Sunday mornings (and other ones for that matter) lazing around before getting ready for church. Since Davis gets up about 6am and Drew about 6:30, we have plenty of time for that. Drew likes to lie on our bed with Davis and talk to him or read him stories. This Sunday Davis was propped up on a pillow and Drew was reading him books like a teacher does to her class. Showing him the pictures and asking him questions. It was so cute. I guess he's been paying attention at storytime at school! Then of course big brother wanted a photo shoot.

Silly boys

Drew loves to play with Davis and now that Davis can sit in the Bumbo...he gets even more excited. It's so fun now that Davis reacts to Drew. He looks all around for him and has really started to smile and "talk" a lot lately. He always has a big toothless, open-mouth grin for his Drew-Drew. I love watching how much my boys love each other. It reallys warms your heart!

Singing in church

I didn't take any pictures of Drew singing in church, but I did have to snap a few before we left. He looked so handsome. He wore his big boy church clothes...a tie, white button down, khaki pants, and a belt. He looked like such a little man. He did great singing "My God is So Big" in church. He sang the words and did the motions, but added a few of his own. He liked to throw in a full body fist pump occassionally and it was a crowd favorite! Everyone laughed and thought he was so cute! Love that boy!

Ms. Trudi and Ms. Keisa

Well, we are sad and happy all at the same time. Drew's Ms. Trudi got married a few weeks ago. It was such a beautiful, joyful wedding. We were so happy to get to go. We went with the Callahan's so Drew and Taylor got to hang out too. They are some of Ms. Trudi's babies and they even got to take their pictures with her. Ms. Keisa and Ms. Lisa were both in it so Drew had his picture taken with all his ladies! Since she got married and her hubby lives in Georgia, she and Ms. Keisa are moving. So Drew and Davis are both going to lose their teachers. But we are really happy for them in this new stage of their lives. We will just miss them a lot!
