Drew's first fishing pole

Since we started FPU, we have learned that in order to change our family tree we have to teach the boys how to handle and manage and respect money. So we started teaching Drew the relationship between work and money...you work you get paid, you don't work, you don't get paid. So he has a work chart on the refridgerator with 4 jobs that he needs to do every day in order to receive money. He has to clean up his mess, put away dirty clothes, help load the dishwasher, and listen to Mommy and Daddy...staying out of timeout. He gets a sticker for each job he does and then gets a dime for each sticker. On Sunday mornings, we count the dimes and convert them into dollars. He gives 10% to the church and 10% to his piggy bank and gets to keep the rest to spend. He has currently been saving for a Lightning McQueen fishing pole he saw at Wal-Mart. So on March 17, 2010 he made his first cash purchase for his fishing pole. And I had to have pictures of the wonderful event. He was so proud counting out each dollar bill from his wallet to the checkout girl. Looks like she got a big kick out of it too! He has decided his next purchase is going to be a real basketball!
