The 2 Poe Babies

Look at our two cuties!

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's SUPER-DREW

Drew's teacher from the nursery and her daughter (his teacher next year) are big fans of Drew...and he's big fans of them. They got him such a fun Birthday present. It was a bag full of clothes which I loved, but it also had a pair of Superman PJs that have a cape that velcros on the back. He LOVES them!

Birthday Party fun

You had a great time at your party and shared really well. You didn't cry, fight, scream, etc at all. We were so proud of you. You got some really great stuff too. Thanks everybody!

Chuck E. Cheese

On your actual bday, Daddy and I took you to Chuck E. Cheese. It's your favorite place in the world right now. You have been there like 4 times and you love to play basketball, air hockey, ride the race horse, drive the jet ski, etc. You aren't a huge fan of the actual Chuck E. Cheese, but you love all the games. You even ate a piece of pizza (eventually). We had a great time and made lots of family memories. We love you big boy!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Drew Poe!

Well, it's finally here...our baby is 2 years old! I can't believe it. It seems like yesterday that we were leaving for the hospital to have him. At 7:58am our 8lbs, 13 oz baby was born. He was so little and adorable. His little fingers and toes and his fuzzy blonde hair. Brian was such a proud daddy and did really great taking care of him alone the first day when I couldn't get out of bed. That was the most amazing day of our lives. And now he's talking and laughing and running and jumping. It's crazy! He requested a trip to Chuck E. Cheese for his birthday dinner, so we're headed there after work. He's so excited about his birthday parties this weekend. I will post about your stats tomorrow after your doctor's appt, but today I just want to talk about you.

You are such a good snuggler. You will crawl up in our laps and say "Nuggle, Mommy" it's adorable!

You love to run and jump and dribble the basketball. You are all boy...you are very independent and say "I do it" about everything.

You always want to pray before dinner and before bed...it's so cute, you aren't satisfied with one prayer.

You love your cousins and think the older three are so cool and you are so good with Caroline...you will be a good big brother some day.

You love Belle so much...you kiss her goodnight and talk to her and read her books...she's pretty crazy about you too.

You love to read books. We will find you sitting behind your rocking chair in a pile of books and you are happy to stay there by yourself for about 30 minutes.

You love animals...you love to tell us what each animal is and how it "goes"

You have a very good memory and can replay conversations from a few days ago.

You counted to 10 last night by yourself...well mostly, you get hung up on 6 and 7.

You know your colors even though you don't always get them right.

You know everyone's first and last names (us, people in your class, some of your friends), in fact yesterday you wanted Daddy and you started yelling "Brian, Brian Poe". I guess you've heard me do that.

You love the Backyardigans, Elmo, Mickey and Minnie, and Tigger and Pooh. You love to sit on the couch with cereal and milk on Saturday mornings and watch cartoons.

You LOVE the park...love to swing, slide, climb the ladders.

You are the absolute greatest thing that has happened to me and Daddy. We love every second with you...even the ones where you throw fits for no reason. You are so beautiful, sweet, kind-hearted, funny, strong, independent...perfect. We love you so much baby boy!

BYE BYE BINKY!!!

I can safely post this now because it's been three weeks since we said goodbye to the Binky (pacifier) at our house. I had resigned myself to taking it away when he turned 2. I don't want him to grow up, but he needed to get rid of it by then so he would talk more. He hasn't had it at school since August, but he usually has it around our house and at night when he's sleeping. So about 3 weeks ago I told him that he could only have it when he was ready to go to bed and we cut the tips off all of them except one. He did okay with that, so a few days later I decided not to give it to him at night unless he asked for it. And he never has. He talks about it occasionally. He says "Binky go night-night." And he talks about how Binkies are for little babies, so I think he gets it. I can't believe it was such an easy transition! We are lucky...he does really well with things like that. He let go of the bottle in a day too. Now the transition into the Terrible Twos looks like it's going to be a much harder battle! Here are some of my favorite binky pics. Except the ones from the hospital...those aren't on this computer!

Look at my big boy!

This will probably be one of the last posts before my little man turns two. Look how big he's gotten. The last time I took a picture like this his head didn't reach the top of the couch. I am amazed at how much he grows in just a few days. I just love that crazy blonde hair when he's just woken up!

Caroline's sitting up!

We stayed with Hannah, Brent, and Caroline on Saturday night, so we got to spend a little time with her. She can sit up all by herself now! I can't believe that she will be 6 months old on Sunday. Time sure flies when you're having fun!

Jamie's 30th Birthday Party

Jamie had her 30th birthday party on Saturday night. It was a murder mystery party...Murder in Margaritaland. It was so fun. We all had characters and they had transformed their house into a Tropical Resort!

Brad Paisley Concert

Daddy and I got a date night to go see the Brad Paisley concert with Charlie and Spudz. We had a great time. Went to Cornerstone for dinner, to the concert, and then to Creegen's for a few drinks.

Just thinking....

A friend of a friend of mine had a terrible tragedy happen to her a few weeks ago and it has really made me take a deeper look at my life and how I treat the people I love most. She is my age, has a little girl that is Drew's age, just found out she was pregnant, and her husband died in a car accident. He just left for work like any other day and will never come home. He was a good man from the things I've heard, a wonderful teacher, loving father and husband. He was young...29 years old. It's scary. I don't know what I would do if I were her. She is so much stronger than I would be...she truly trusts in God in a way that I envy. I trust God...I love him with all my heart and I know that he has a reason for everything and he never gives us something we can't handle with his help, but I don't know if I could be as strong as she is. How do you explain to a 2 year old that her daddy isn't coming home and that he isn't at work...that he lives in Heaven with God now. Drew knows where is Daddy is and still cries in the mornings because he wants him to come home. I don't think I could live through something like that. And not to mention that she is newly pregnant with a precious baby that will never know its daddy. Such a wonderful father and man and there are two babies that will never really know how much he loved them.

So please, everyone pray for Bonnie and her family. I know she doesn't know me, but a few more prayers being shot their way couldn't hurt right?

And Brian, I love you with all my heart and soul. You are the most amazing man I have ever met and I can't believe that God sent me such a precious angel. You are an amazing father and Drew is so incredibly lucky to have you as his model of how a man is supposed to live his life and treat a woman. You work so hard to provide for us and make us happy and you do it all without ever considering your own feelings. Thank you for everything!

Taking a walk in Daddy's shoes

I guess Drew wanted to know what it was like to be Daddy, so he took a walk in his shoes!
