Snow Day

Well, since Davis had just gotten out of the hospital, he didn't get to play in his first snow. But Drew did. Unfortunately the snow we got came in the middle of two layers of ice, so you couldn't really make a decent snowball. But Drew had fun bundling up and marching in the icy snow and listening to it crunch.

Poor Baby Davis

Well, we had our first hospital stay with Davis (or Drew for that matter) about a week ago. He started running fever last Monday and with newborns that's never a good thing. He ran 100-100.5 that day so I took him to the doctor on Tuesday. They ran all kinds of tests on him...catheter for urine cultures, RSV swab, chest x-ray, bloodwork, etc. Then he got an antibiotic shot and we went home with the hopes that would knock out the fever and it was just a virus. Well, it didn't go down and even reached 101 Tuesday night. We went back to the doctor on Wednesday and they did bloodwork again and did a spinal on him to try to get some spinal fluid to test for menigitis. But they weren't successful extracting any fluid. We had to take him to Baptist-Springhill for some IV medications and fluids for 48 hours while we waited for all the test results. He was such a trooper while they did all those tests and then spending two days with an IV in his hand and getting poked on and temperature taken every two hours. The nurses were great and we were lucky because the RN when we got there was a friend of Brian's from high school and the daytime RN both days was a friend's mom. So we were well taken care of. We found out that the bloodwork came back negative, but there was an extremely high level of Staff in his urine. So much that the doctors think his catheter must have been contaminated when they ran the tests because his fever went away with his IV meds and they weren't the kind of meds that would've treated Staff. But we still have to go to Children's Hospital in a few weeks to have some more tests run on his kidneys and bladder to test for some urinary problems. Nothing serious, but still...a hassle. Dr. Laura is pretty sure he just had some kind of virus but with little ones you want to rule out really bad stuff. Needless to say, he was a big time trooper and is feeling much better now. Poor sweet boy!

Drew's party at Chuck E Cheese

Well, we usually have a big birthday blowout for you at our house with all our friends and family, but I knew you needed something to keep you busy this year and since you have a winter birthday you can't be outside. So we decided to scale down this year and we just invited about 7 friends and your grandparents and aunts and uncles to Chuck E Cheese. You had such a great time! It's so fun to watch you play with your school buddies because those are your friends that you chose for yourself. Not your friends by default because they are our friends' kids or something. We had Harlee Peach, Sam Glover, Noah Kincade, Alex and Riley Strube, Whitman Dial, and Ashton Harper. You guys had so much fun running all around and playing and screaming. We decided to have it on a Tuesday night because I wanted y'all to have the run of the place and not have to compete with a ton of other people like you would if we had it on a Saturday. You had a great time and were such a good boy. I'm glad you have such sweet friends with such sweet parents. We've really been lucky with all the fun kids in your class at school.

Drew Poe is 3 years old!!

Well, I can't believe it, but Drew is 3 years old today! It seems like just yesterday that we brought him home for the first time and now he's running around and talking like a grown up. Drew, you are such a smart little boy. I love having conversations with you because you really understand what we are talking about and you bring so much to the conversation. The way that you look at life has really reminded me and Daddy how wonderful the world is. You truly see all of God's miracles in such an innocent way and I love watching you learn. You are so funny and love to make us laugh. You still aren't a good eater, but we're working on that. You love music and sports, so you and Daddy have lots in common! You couldn't be a better big brother to Davis...he already adores you and sometimes you are the only one that can make him stop crying. When you come in the room, he immediately starts trying to find your face. You are so gentle and loving...we are so proud of you! Thank you for making the last 3 years the best of our lives. We can't wait for what each day brings because it is so fun to watch you grow up. We love you so much, William Andrew Poe. Happy Birthday baby!

Jam Session

Drew likes to watch what he calls "the singin' show". It's actually the Singing Bee on CMT which is a country karoke show. He LOVES it. He likes to play the guitar, Brian sings, and I play the drums. It's all very interesting. Here are some pictures of it...and I tried to download a video too, so hopefully it'll work!

The Liberty Bowl

Looks like Daddy is teaching them how to stress out over the Hogs already! We were watching the Hogs play in the Liberty Bowl and look at Drew! I think he was eating something, but it looks like he was chewing his fingernails with stress! This was Davis's first Hog football game! Hope he's not destined for heartbreak!

My boys

I love saying something about "my boys". Isn't it funny that you have always thought you wanted your life to turn out one way, but God seems to have the perfect plan in mind for you. I always thought the perfect family for Brian and I would've been one boy and then a little girl. But the minute I found out Davis was a boy...I couldn't imagine my life any other way. I'm clearly meant to be the mom of boys. I understand boy sense of humor...and think it's funny and I love sports and playing outside and stuff, so maybe this will all work out okay! Anyway, life around here has been very fun lately. Drew absolutely adores Davis and it looks like that adoration is already returned. Davis opens his eyes or tries to turn his head to find Drew everytime he talks. He's already idolizing him I guess! Drew is so sweet with him...feeding him, holding him, talking to him, reading to him. He runs right in from school everyday to hug and give Davis a kiss. It's precious! Here are some recent pics of them.
Someday, I will post all the cute pictures from Christmas. I need to get organized!
